Fariborz Lachini

Fariborz Lachini is a composer and pianist born in Tehran in 1949. He began with music for children, wrote the theme of Iranian television's children's programming, and composed for the pop singers of the 1970s before the revolution. He then studied musicology at the Sorbonne in Paris, came back to Iran, and made Golden Autumn, the solo piano album that became one of the most played in the country, with three more volumes after it. Since 1988 he has scored more than a hundred feature films.

The children's music came first: at eighteen he wrote Avaz-e Faslha va Rangha, the song of the seasons and colours, and the title music of national television's children's programming stayed on air for more than twenty years. The pop songs of the 1970s sit in the middle of the catalogue, and the piano albums, Paeez-e Talaee and its sequels, are what most Iranians know him by now; his own website carries the sheet music for the old songs alongside them.
