Hassan Shamaizadeh

Hassan Shamaizadeh is a composer and singer from Isfahan. He came to Tehran as a clarinet and wind player, working in theatre orchestras and at Radio Iran, and turned to composing in 1972 when years of heavy brass had damaged his neck. Through the 1970s he wrote for Googoosh, Dariush, Ebi, Sattar and Aref, and with Ardalan Sarfaraz and Googoosh he formed the three-way partnership behind seventeen songs he says were written in under two years. He left Iran days after the revolution, in February 1979, and has worked from Los Angeles since.

Do Panjereh, Koli, Jaddeh and Mordab are among the seventeen songs he wrote with Ardalan Sarfaraz for Googoosh, and the same years carried his work for Dariush, Ebi, Sattar and Aref. He is a singer as well as a composer, and released his own records alongside the ones he was writing for other voices.
