Mohsen Yeganeh
Mohsen Yeganeh writes, composes and sings his own songs, so the words and the voice arrive as one decision. He works in the spoken register rather than the formal one, and his videos include the most viewed Persian music video on YouTube.
The one-hand method does not stop at his own records: Yeganeh has written, composed and arranged for other singers too, Mohammad Esfahani and Ali Lohrasbi among them, and the Turkish singer Aysegul Coskun - a songwriter's catalogue running quietly under the performer's one. He came up in the 2000s and stayed, which in Iranian pop is the harder half. Behet Ghol Midam shows his register at full strength: a promise made in spoken Persian, the language of the kitchen table rather than the poem, and it lands harder for it.
